द‍ृष्टं श्रुतमसद्बुद्ध्वा नानुध्यायेन्न सन्दिशेत् । संसृतिं चात्मनाशं च तत्र विद्वान् स आत्मद‍ृक् ॥ २० ॥

dṛṣṭaṁ śrutam asad buddhvā nānudhyāyen na sandiśet saṁsṛtiṁ cātma-nāśaṁ ca tatra vidvān sa ātma-dṛk

ഈ ലോകത്തോ പരലോകത്തോ കണ്ടതും കേട്ടതുമായ ഭൗതികസുഖം നശ്വരവും നിസ്സാരവും എന്നു അറിഞ്ഞ് അതിനെ ധ്യാനിക്കാതെയും അതിനെക്കുറിച്ച് സംസാരിക്കാതെയും, അതിലേക്കുള്ള ആസക്തിയാണു സംസാരബന്ധത്തിന്റെയും ആത്മവിസ്മൃതിയുടെയും കാരണമെന്ന് ബോധിക്കുന്നവൻ തന്നെയാണ് ആത്മദർശി.
