Mārkaṇḍeya Ṛṣi Meets Lord Śiva: Devotee as Living Tīrtha and the Lord’s Māyā

श्रीभगवानुवाच नैवेच्छत्याशिष: क्‍वापि ब्रह्मर्षिर्मोक्षमप्युत । भक्तिं परां भगवति लब्धवान् पुरुषेऽव्यये ॥ ६ ॥

ശ്രീഭഗവാൻ (ശിവൻ) പറഞ്ഞു—ഈ ബ്രഹ്മർഷി യാതൊരു വരവും ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നില്ല, മോക്ഷവും പോലും അല്ല; കാരണം അവ്യയ പുരുഷോത്തമ ഭഗവാനിൽ പരമഭക്തി അവൻ നേടിയിരിക്കുന്നു।

The words naivecchaty āśiṣaḥ kvāpi indicate that Mārkaṇḍeya Ṛṣi was uninterested in any reward available on any planet within the universe. Nor did he want liberation, for he had achieved the Supreme Lord Himself.
