Śukadeva Gosvāmī continues describing Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s intimate household pastimes after His many marriages. The verse depicts the Lord’s water-sports with His queens—an expression of divine, transcendental enjoyment (līlā), not material sensuality. In Bhāgavata theology, Kṛṣṇa is ātmārāma (self-satisfied) and yet, out of affection for His devotees, He reciprocates with them in perfectly pure relationships. The mention of kuṅkuma (vermilion) emphasizes the queens’ loving closeness and the sweetness (mādhurya) of the Lord’s personal life in Dvārakā. For practitioners, the point is not imitation but appreciation: Kṛṣṇa’s affection sanctifies all loving exchanges when centered on Him, and His devotees’ love is honored as the highest wealth. The narrative also underlines Kṛṣṇa’s completeness—He is the Supreme Lord who still becomes ‘conquered’ by bhakti.
