Bhṛgu Tests the Trimūrti; Kṛṣṇa and Arjuna Visit Mahā-Viṣṇu and Recover the Brāhmaṇa’s Sons
śrī-śuka uvāca ekadā dvāravatyāṁ tu vipra-patnyāḥ kumārakaḥ jāta-mātro bhuvaṁ spṛṣṭvā mamāra kila bhārata
In this chapter Lord Viṣṇu has been glorified as the Supreme Godhead. Now Śukadeva Gosvāmī is going to identify Lord Kṛṣṇa with that same Personality of Godhead by describing another pastime of His, one which highlighted His unequaled, divine characteristics.
This verse introduces the mysterious event that sets the narrative in motion—an apparently unnatural death occurring at birth in Dvārakā—leading to further inquiry into the Lord’s deeper arrangement revealed later in the chapter.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī is speaking, addressing King Parīkṣit as “Bhārata,” while narrating events that occurred in Dvārakā.
Even painful and confusing events may unfold under a higher divine plan; a devotee learns to seek spiritual understanding rather than only blame or despair when adversity arises.
