Vasudeva’s description of how the Supreme Lord expands Himself into the products of the three material modes may possibly be misunderstood to imply that He is touched by the modes, or even that He is subject to destruction. To negate these misunderstandings, Vasudeva states here that the three modes and their products function by the arrangement of the Lord’s creative energy, Yoga-māyā, who is always completely under His control. Thus the Lord is never tainted in the least by any material contact.
This verse explains that the three modes and their effects belong to the realm of manifestation and are superimposed by divine potency; the Supreme (Kṛṣṇa as Para Brahman) remains beyond these modes.
Vasudeva is offering philosophical praise: although the world of qualities appears real to conditioned beings, Kṛṣṇa’s transcendental nature is untouched—Yogamāyā makes the Lord’s relation with creation intelligible without limiting Him.
Use the teaching to cultivate devotion and clarity: observe how moods and impulses arise from the gunas, and anchor choices in sāttvika habits and bhakti so identity is not dictated by passion or ignorance.
