Sudāmā Brāhmaṇa: Divine Friendship, Guru-bhakti, and the Lord’s Grace
सूत उवाच विष्णुरातेन सम्पृष्टो भगवान् बादरायणि: । वासुदेवे भगवति निमग्नहृदयोऽब्रवीत् ॥ ५ ॥
sūta uvāca viṣṇu-rātena sampṛṣṭo bhagavān bādarāyaṇiḥ vāsudeve bhagavati nimagna-hṛdayo ’bravīt
സൂത ഗോസ്വാമി പറഞ്ഞു—രാജാവ് വിഷ്ണുരാതൻ ചോദിച്ചതിനാൽ, വാസുദേവ ഭഗവാനിൽ പൂർണ്ണമായി ലീനമായ ഹൃദയത്തോടെ ഭഗവാൻ ബാദരായണി (ശുകദേവൻ) മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു।
Viṣṇurāta is King Parīkṣit, so named because he was protected by Lord Viṣṇu; in this verse he is the one questioning Śukadeva Gosvāmī.
Bādarāyaṇi means “son of Bādarāyaṇa (Vyāsa),” indicating Śukadeva’s identity as the son of Vedavyāsa and the qualified speaker of the Bhāgavatam.
By regularly hearing and speaking about Kṛṣṇa (Bhāgavatam study, kīrtana, japa) so the mind becomes steadily drawn to Vāsudeva even amid daily duties.
