Balarāma Humbles the Kurus and Rescues Sāmba
श्रीशुक उवाच एवं प्रपन्नै: संविग्नैर्वेपमानायनैर्बल: । प्रसादित: सुप्रसन्नो मा भैष्टेत्यभयं ददौ ॥ ४९ ॥
śrī-śuka uvāca evaṁ prapannaiḥ saṁvignair vepamānāyanair balaḥ prasāditaḥ su-prasanno mā bhaiṣṭety abhayaṁ dadau
ശ്രീശുകൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇങ്ങനെ അത്യന്തം വ്യാകുലരായി ശരണാഗതരായി, അവരുടെ നഗരം നടുങ്ങിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന കുരുക്കൾ പ്രീതിപ്പെടുത്തിയപ്പോൾ ഭഗവാൻ ബലരാമൻ വളരെ ശാന്തനും കൃപാപൂർവ്വം പ്രസന്നനുമായി. “ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ട” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവർക്കു അഭയം നൽകി.

This verse shows that when the frightened parties surrendered and pleaded, Balarāma became pleased and specifically granted them abhayam—fearlessness—assuring them, “Do not be afraid.”
Because they approached him in a state of surrender and trembling anxiety; being pacified by their submission, Balarāma compassionately reassured them and removed their fear.
When overwhelmed by anxiety, adopt sincere śaraṇāgati—humble turning toward the Lord and His devotees—seeking guidance and protection rather than reacting in panic.
