भीष्मकन्या वरारोहा काङ्‍क्षन्त्यागमनं हरे: । प्रत्यापत्तिमपश्यन्ती द्विजस्याचिन्तयत्तदा ॥ २२ ॥

ഭീഷ്മകന്റെ മനോഹരിയായ പുത്രി രുക്മിണി ഹരിയായ കൃഷ്ണന്റെ വരവിനെ ആകാംക്ഷയോടെ കാത്തിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ബ്രാഹ്മണ ദൂതൻ മടങ്ങിവരുന്നത് കാണാതിരുന്നതിനാൽ അവൾ അപ്പോൾ മനസ്സിൽ ഇങ്ങനെ ചിന്തിച്ചു.
