evaṁ śaptaḥ sva-guruṇā satyān na calito mahān vāmanāya dadāv enām arcitvodaka-pūrvakam

സ്വഗുരു ഇങ്ങനെ ശപിച്ചിട്ടും മഹാനായ ബലി മഹാരാജൻ സത്യത്തിൽ നിന്ന് ചലിച്ചില്ല. ആചാരപ്രകാരം ആദ്യം വാമനദേവനു ജലം അർപ്പിച്ച് ആരാധിച്ചു; പിന്നെ വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്ത ഭൂമിദാനം നൽകി.
