Trikūṭa Mountain, Ṛtumat Garden, and the Beginning of Gajendra’s Crisis
तथातुरं यूथपतिं करेणवो विकृष्यमाणं तरसा बलीयसा । विचुक्रुशुर्दीनधियोऽपरे गजा: पार्ष्णिग्रहास्तारयितुं न चाशकन् ॥ २८ ॥
tathāturaṁ yūtha-patiṁ kareṇavo vikṛṣyamāṇaṁ tarasā balīyasā vicukruśur dīna-dhiyo ’pare gajāḥ pārṣṇi-grahās tārayituṁ na cāśakan
പിന്നീട് അതിബലവാനായ മുതലയുടെ വേഗത്തിലുള്ള വലിച്ചിഴച്ചിലാൽ വലിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന കൂട്ടത്തലവൻ ഗജേന്ദ്രനെ ആ ദയനീയാവസ്ഥയിൽ കണ്ട പെൺആനകൾ ദുഃഖത്തോടെ നിലവിളിച്ചു. മറ്റു ആനകൾ പിന്നിൽ നിന്ന് പിടിച്ച് രക്ഷിക്കാനായി ശ്രമിച്ചെങ്കിലും, മുതലയുടെ മഹാബലം കാരണം അവർക്കു സാധിച്ചില്ല.
