Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Significance: Stresses dṛḍha-vrata and śravaṇa with mudā (joy): in Siddhānta, such disciplined receptivity is a proximate cause for Śiva’s grace (anugraha) and removal of pāśa.
It affirms that steadfast Śiva-bhakti and disciplined vows make the seeker a fit recipient of sacred instruction; joyful listening (śravaṇa) becomes a direct means to receive Śiva’s grace.
By praising firm vows and devotion, the verse supports Saguna worship—approaching Śiva through reverent practices (including Liṅga-upāsanā) and attentive hearing of His glories as a path that purifies and steadies the mind.
The immediate practice is śravaṇa—listening with glad faith; it naturally pairs with vrata-observance and bhakti disciplines such as japa of Śiva’s names (e.g., the Pañcākṣarī) and regular worship.
