P
Pṛthūdaka

FAQs

It states that bathing at Pṛthūdaka is so meritorious that even those who have committed sins attain heaven, and the wise therefore praise it as foremost among sacred places.

The verse praises the extraordinary purifying power of tīrtha-snāna at Pṛthūdaka; in Purāṇic ethics this is typically understood as effective when approached with faith and proper conduct, not as a license for deliberate wrongdoing.

It promotes reverence for sacred geography (tīrthas) and emphasizes purification and moral renewal—encouraging a sinner to turn toward cleansing practices and higher aspiration (svarga).
