Guḍa-dhenū literally means a “jaggery-cow”—a ritual donation where an offering is fashioned in the form of a cow (or a cow-related gift) using guḍa (jaggery), with a prescribed method (vidhāna) and expected spiritual result (phala).
It frames dāna as a structured practice: the donor asks about the correct form (rūpa) and the accompanying mantra, and the teacher promises to explain both the procedure (vidhāna) and the resulting merit (phala).
That religious giving should be done thoughtfully and correctly—seeking guidance on intention, form, and method—rather than performed casually or without understanding.
