Educational Q&A

The verse underscores how remembrance of auspicious predictions and divine praise can deepen sorrow when reality appears to contradict them. Ethically, it points to the human struggle to hold steady to dharma and trust in righteous destiny amid overwhelming grief.

Vaiśaṃpāyana narrates that Yudhiṣṭhira laments extensively, recalling that even the gods had spoken highly of Arjuna at the time of his birth observances—setting the emotional backdrop for Yudhiṣṭhira’s despair in the face of calamity.
