यक्ष उवाच तस्य ते<र्थाच्च कामाच्च आनृशंस्यं परं मतम् | तस्मात् ते भ्रातर: सर्वे जीवन्तु भरतर्षभ
yakṣa uvāca tasya te 'rthāc ca kāmāc ca ānṛśaṃsyaṃ paraṃ matam | tasmāt te bhrātaraḥ sarve jīvantu bharatarṣabha ||
ຢັກສະ ກ່າວວ່າ: «ໂອ ຜູ້ປະເສີດໃນວົງພັນບາຣະຕະ! ເຈົ້າໄດ້ຖືຄວາມເມດຕາ ແລະ ຄວາມເທົ່າເທົ່ມ ເປັນສິ່ງສູງກວ່າການແສວງຫາຊັບສິນ ແລະ ຄວາມສຸກສຳລານ. ດັ່ງນັ້ນ ໃຫ້ພີ່ນ້ອງຂອງເຈົ້າທຸກຄົນມີຊີວິດ.»
यक्ष उवाच
Compassion and non-cruelty (ānṛśaṃsya) are presented as higher than the goals of wealth (artha) and pleasure (kāma). The verse affirms that ethical restraint and humane concern are the decisive virtues that merit divine or moral reward.
In the Yakṣa-prashna episode, Yudhiṣṭhira is tested by the Yaksha. Having demonstrated that he values compassion above worldly aims, he is granted a boon: the restoration of life to all his brothers.
