दुर्योधन उवाच
Malicious counsel (durmantraṇā) rebounds upon the schemer: when one acts from envy and humiliation-seeking, the result is loss of dignity and dependence on those one sought to harm. The verse highlights an ethical contrast—intrigue versus accountability—by showing the plot exposed and the plotters delivered into the hands of the very people they opposed.
Duryodhana recounts that after their plan was communicated, a Gandharva—having subdued them—approaches Yudhiṣṭhira together with the Pāṇḍavas, reveals the Kauravas’ ill-intentioned scheme, and hands the bound captives over to Yudhiṣṭhira’s side.
