कृष्णेन विदुरं प्रति आगमन-हेतु-निवेदनम् / Krishna explains the purpose of his coming to Vidura
भीष्मे द्रोणे कृपे कर्णे द्रोणपुत्रे जयद्रथे । भूयसी वर्तते वृत्ति न शमे कुरुते मन:
bhīṣme droṇe kṛpe karṇe droṇaputre jayadrathe | bhūyasī vartate vṛttir na śame kurute manaḥ ||
ໄວສັມປາຍະນະ ກ່າວວ່າ: «ຄວາມໝັ້ນໃຈ ແລະ ການພຶ່ງພາຂອງເຂົາ ສ່ວນໃຫຍ່ຢູ່ທີ່ ພີສະມະ, ໂດຣນະ, ກຣິປະ, ກັນນະ, ບຸດຂອງໂດຣນະ (ອັສວັດຖາມາ) ແລະ ໄຈຍະດຣະຖະ. ດັ່ງນັ້ນ ໃຈຂອງເຂົາບໍ່ຫັນໄປຫາສັນຕິ ແລະ ບໍ່ຕັ້ງໃຈຈະປອງດອງ»។
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Overconfidence in military strength can eclipse ethical restraint: when a leader leans heavily on powerful allies, the mind may reject śama (peace) and become unwilling to pursue a just settlement.
Vaiśampāyana explains why the Kuru side (contextually Duryodhana) is not inclined toward a treaty: he trusts the might of Bhīṣma, Droṇa, Kṛpa, Karṇa, Aśvatthāmā, and Jayadratha, so his intention does not move toward reconciliation.
