Educational Q&A

Sound political and ethical decision-making in a crisis requires honest recognition of realities—especially the true capabilities of key actors. Dhṛtarāṣṭra notes that the most authoritative elders and teachers also recognize Bhīma’s power, implying that counsel should be guided by clear knowledge rather than bias or denial.

In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war deliberations, Dhṛtarāṣṭra speaks about the opposing side’s strength. He states that Bhīma’s valor is well known not only to him but also to Bhīṣma, Droṇa, and Kṛpa—figures whose judgment on martial matters carries great weight.
