वास: कृच्छो विहितश्चाप्यरण्ये दीर्घ कालं चैकमज्ञातवर्षम् | ते हि कस्माज्जीवतां पाण्डवानां नन्दिष्यन्ते धार्तराष्ट्रा: पदस्था:
vāsaḥ kṛcchro vihitaś cāpy araṇye dīrgha-kālaṁ caikam ajñāta-varṣam | te hi kasmāj jīvatāṁ pāṇḍavānāṁ nandiṣyante dhārtarāṣṭrāḥ padasthāḥ ||
ສັນຊະຍະກ່າວວ່າ: «ພວກເຂົາຖືກກຳນົດໃຫ້ດຳລົງຊີວິດອັນຫຍຸ້ງຍາກໃນປ່າເປັນເວລາຍາວນານ ແລະຕໍ່ມາຍັງມີປີດຽວທີ່ຕ້ອງຢູ່ຢ່າງປິດບັງ. ໃນເມື່ອພານດະວະຍັງມີຊີວິດ ລູກຫຼານຂອງທຣິຕະຣາສະຕຣະ ທີ່ຍັງຢືນຢູ່ໃນຕຳແໜ່ງຂອງຕົນຢ່າງມັ່ນຄົງ ຈະຍັງສາມາດເສບສຸກໄດ້ແນວໃດ?»
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores moral accountability: those who have caused or benefited from another’s unjust suffering cannot ethically remain complacent or celebratory, especially while the wronged parties still live and retain rightful claims.
Sanjaya recalls the Pandavas’ forced hardships—long forest exile and the year of incognito living—and questions how the Kauravas can remain happily established in power despite the Pandavas’ continued existence and unresolved injustice.
