Ulūka’s Provocation and Keśava’s Counter-Message (उलूकदूत्ये केशवप्रत्युत्तरम्)
लोहाभिसारो निर्वेत्त: कुरुक्षेत्रमकर्दमम् । पुष्टास्तेडश्वा भूता योधा: श्वो युद्धयस्व सकेशव:,“अब लोहमय अस्त्र-शस्त्रोंकोी बाहर निकालकर तैयार करनेका कार्य पूरा हो चुका है। कुरुक्षेत्रक्री कीच भी सूख गयी है। तुम्हारे घोड़े खूब हृष्ट-पुष्ट हैं और सैनिकोंका भी तुमने अच्छी तरह भरण-पोषण किया है; अतः कल सबेरेसे ही श्रीकृष्णके साथ आकर युद्ध करो
sañjaya uvāca | lohābhisāro nirvṛttaḥ kurukṣetram akardamam | puṣṭās te 'śvā bhūtā yodhāḥ śvo yudhyasva sa-keśavaḥ ||
ສັນຊະຍະກ່າວວ່າ: «ການຈັດຕຽມອາວຸດເຫຼັກ—ອາວຸດແລະເຄື່ອງສົງຄາມ—ສໍາເລັດແລ້ວ. ກຸຣຸເກສຕຣະບັດນີ້ບໍ່ມີຂີ້ຕົມ ເພາະພື້ນດິນແຫ້ງແລ້ວ. ມ້າຂອງເຈົ້າກິນອິ່ມແຂງແຮງ ແລະນັກຮົບກໍໄດ້ຮັບການບໍລຸງຮັກສາຢ່າງດີ. ດັ່ງນັ້ນ ພອດຮຸ່ງອາລຸນມື້ພູ່ນ ຈົ່ງມາພ້ອມກັບ ກຣິສນະ ແລະເຂົ້າສູ່ສົງຄາມ.»
संजय उवाच
The verse underscores the kṣatriya-world emphasis on readiness and responsibility: once resources, terrain, and troops are prepared and sustained, one should not delay the appointed duty. It also highlights the strategic and moral weight of acting with proper support—here, going to battle ‘with Keśava,’ implying counsel, legitimacy, and steadiness in action.
Sanjaya reports that logistical war preparations are complete: weapons are readied, the battlefield has dried and become passable, horses are strong, and soldiers are well provided for. On that basis, he urges that the addressee should come the next morning with Krishna and commence the battle.
