Treasury Security, Protection of Informants, and the Kalakavṛkṣīya Exemplum (Śānti Parva 83)
सर्वकामान् परित्यज्य तपस्तप्तं तदा मया । स्नेहात् त्वां तु ब्रवीम्येतन्मा भूयो विभ्रमेदिति
sarvakāmān parityajya tapas taptaṁ tadā mayā | snehāt tvāṁ tu bravīmy etan mā bhūyo vibhramed iti ||
ພີດສະມະ ກ່າວວ່າ: «ເມື່ອຂ້າພະເຈົ້າລະທິ້ງຄວາມປາຖະໜາທັງປວງແລ້ວ ຈຶ່ງໄດ້ປະພຶດຕະປະ (ຕະປັດ) ໃນເວລານັ້ນ. ເນື່ອງຈາກຄວາມເມດຕາຮັກໃຫ້ແກ່ເຈົ້າ ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າຈຶ່ງບອກເລື່ອງນີ້—ເພື່ອບໍ່ໃຫ້ເຈົ້າຕົກໃນຄວາມຫຼົງອີກ ແລະຖືກນໍາໄປຜິດທາງ».
भीष्म उवाच
Renounce self-centered desires and accept disciplined restraint (tapas); wise counsel given out of genuine concern aims to prevent renewed confusion and moral error.
Bhīṣma, speaking as an elder authority, recalls having undertaken austerity after abandoning personal desires, and he warns the listener—out of affection—not to be misled again.
