धृता तेनोरुणा येन तेनोर्वीति मही स्मृता । रक्षणार्थ समुद्दिश्य ययाचे पृथिवी तदा
dhṛtā tenoruṇā yena tenorvīti mahī smṛtā | rakṣaṇārthaṃ samuddiśya yayāce pṛthivī tadā
ເພາະແຜ່ນດິນຖືກຄ້ຳຈຸນໄວ້ດ້ວຍຂາອ່ອນຂອງຜູ້ສູງສົ່ງນັ້ນ ນາງຈຶ່ງຖືກຈື່ຈຳວ່າ “ອູຣະວີ” (Urvi). ແລະເພື່ອຂໍການປົກປ້ອງ ແຜ່ນດິນໄດ້ເຂົ້າໄປຫາລາວ ແລະ ອ້ອນວອນໃນຂະນະນັ້ນ.
वासुदेव उवाच
The verse links rightful protection to moral authority: the Earth is sustained by a worthy protector, and in turn she seeks refuge and safeguarding from him—implying that dharma includes the duty to uphold and protect the world.
Vāsudeva explains an etymological and narrative point: because a great protector upheld the Earth, she is called ‘Urvī’; and at that time the Earth, personified, approached him to request protection.
