यं न जानन्ति को होष कुतो वा भगवानिति । देवता, दानव, गन्धर्व, यक्ष, राक्षस और नाग भी जिनके विषयमें यह नहीं जानते हैं कि 'ये भगवान् कौन हैं तथा कहाँसे आये हैं?”
yaṃ na jānanti ko hoṣa kuto vā bhagavān iti | devatā dānavā gandharvā yakṣā rākṣasā nāgāś ca api yeṣāṃ viṣaye idaṃ na jānanti—“ko ’yaṃ bhagavān, kuta āgataḥ” iti |
ພີດສະມະກ່າວວ່າ: ແມ່ນແຕ່ເທວະດາ, ດານະວະ, ຄັນທະວະ, ຢັກ, ຣາກສະສະ ແລະ ນາກ ກໍຍັງບໍ່ຮູ້ແທ້ຈິງກ່ຽວກັບພຣະຜູ້ເປັນເຈົ້ານັ້ນ—ວ່າພຣະອົງແມ່ນໃຜ ແລະ ມາຈາກໃສ.
भीष्म उवाच
The verse teaches that the Lord’s true nature and origin surpass even celestial knowledge; therefore one should approach the divine with humility and align oneself with dharma rather than relying on pride in learning, power, or status.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction-setting, Bhishma is emphasizing to his listener that the supreme divine reality is not fully comprehended even by gods and other superhuman beings, underscoring the need for reverence and ethical self-restraint.
