Nara-Nārāyaṇa–Nārada Discourse on Vision, Elements, and Entry into Vāsudeva
व्याधिभिमथ्यमानानां त्यजतां विपुलं धनम् | वेदनां नापकर्षन्ति यतमानाश्षिकित्सका:
vyādhibhir mathyamānānāṁ tyajatāṁ vipulaṁ dhanam | vedanāṁ nāpakarṣanti yatamānāś cikitsakāḥ ||
ນາຣະດະ ກ່າວວ່າ: “ແມ່ນແຕ່ເມື່ອມະນຸດຖືກໂຣກໄພບີບຄັ້ນ ແລະຍອມສະຫຼະຊັບສິນອັນຫຼາຍ ບັນດາແພດ—ແມ່ນແຕ່ພະຍາຍາມສຸດກຳລັງ—ກໍມັກຈະບໍ່ອາດດຶງຄວາມເຈັບປວດຂອງເຂົາອອກໄດ້.”
नारद उवाच
Wealth is not a guaranteed remedy for suffering: even when the afflicted relinquish great riches, pain may remain despite the best efforts of physicians. The verse points toward humility, detachment, and a realistic view of worldly means.
Nārada is speaking in a didactic context within Śānti Parva, using the example of severe illness to illustrate the limits of material resources and human skill in overcoming suffering.
