Śreyas-nirdeśa (Discerning the Superior Good): Nārada–Gālava Saṃvāda
यो न हिंसति सत्त्वानि मनोवाक्कर्महेतुभि:
yo na hiṃsati sattvāni manovākkarmahetubhiḥ
ພີສະມະກ່າວວ່າ: ຜູ້ໃດບໍ່ເຮັດຮ້າຍສັດມີຊີວິດ ບໍ່ວ່າດ້ວຍແຮງຜັກດັນຂອງໃຈ, ດ້ວຍຄຳເວົ້າ, ຫຼືດ້ວຍການກະທຳທາງກາຍ ຜູ້ນັ້ນຍ່ອມເປັນຜູ້ສະແດງວິໄນແຫ່ງອະຫິມສາ (ahimsa) ຢ່າງຄົບຖ້ວນ ບໍ່ແມ່ນແຕ່ການຂັດຂືນພາຍນອກເທົ່ານັ້ນ.
भीष्म उवाच
Ahimsa is threefold and complete only when it is upheld in intention (mind), expression (speech), and conduct (action). Ethical purity is measured not just by what one does, but also by what one wills and says.
In the Śānti Parva’s dharma instruction, Bhīṣma continues advising on righteous conduct, emphasizing non-violence as a foundational virtue that must govern inner motives, spoken words, and outward deeds.
