Adhyāya 180: Jīva, Śarīra, and the Fire Analogy (भृगु–भरद्वाज संवादः)
अनियतफलभक्ष्यभोज्यपेयं विधिपरिणामविभक्तदेशकालम् | हृदयसुखमसेवितं कदर्य- ब्रीतमिदमाजगरं शुचिश्नचरामि
bhīṣma uvāca | aniyata-phalabhakṣya-bhojya-peyaṁ vidhi-pariṇāma-vibhakta-deśa-kālam | hṛdaya-sukham asevitaṁ kadarya-vrītam idaṁ ājagaraṁ śuciśn carāmi |
ພີດສະມະກ່າວວ່າ: “ວັດຕະ ‘ແບບງູໄພທອນ’ ນີ້ເປັນທີ່ພໍໃຈແກ່ໃຈຂອງຂ້ອຍ. ໃນນັ້ນບໍ່ມີການຈັດຕັ້ງຕາຍຕົວສຳລັບຜົນໄມ້, ອາຫານທີ່ກິນ, ອາຫານທີ່ຮັບປະທານ, ຫຼືນ້ຳດື່ມ; ສິ່ງໃດທີ່ມາໂດຍບໍ່ໄດ້ເຊີນ ນັ້ນແຫຼະເປັນທີ່ພຶ່ງພາ. ຕາມການສຸກງອມຂອງຊະຕາກຳ ສະຖານທີ່ແລະເວລາຖືກແບ່ງສັນ. ຄົນຕ່ຳທີ່ໂລບໃນອາລົມສຳຜັດບໍ່ຮັບເອົາມັນ; ຂ້ອຍປະພຶດວັດຕະນີ້ດ້ວຍຄວາມບໍລິສຸດ.”
भीष्म उवाच
Cultivate contentment and non-greed by accepting whatever comes without scheming for specific pleasures; live with purity and restraint, recognizing that circumstances of place and time unfold according to the maturation of destiny (karma).
Bhishma explains and praises the ājagara-vrata—an ascetic discipline likened to a python that remains still and lives on what arrives—stating that it is not followed by sense-driven people, while he himself observes it with inner purity.
