पतिव्रता पतिगति: पतिप्रियहिते रता । यस्य स्यात् तादृशी भार्या धन्य: स पुरुषो भुवि,“वह बड़ी पतित्रता थी। पतिके सिवा दूसरी कोई उसकी गति नहीं थी। वह सदा ही पतिके प्रिय एवं हितमें तत्पर रहती थी। जिसको ऐसी पत्नी प्राप्त हुई हो, वह पुरुष इस पृथ्वीपर धन्य है
pativratā patigatiḥ patipriyahite ratā | yasya syāt tādṛśī bhāryā dhanyaḥ sa puruṣo bhuvi ||
ພີສະມະ ກ່າວວ່າ: «ນາງເປັນພະຕິວະຕາ—ພັນລະຍາຜູ້ຊື່ສັດຕໍ່ສາມີ—ເອົາສາມີເປັນທີ່ພຶ່ງແລະເປົ້າໝາຍສູງສຸດ. ນາງອຸທິດຕົນຢູ່ເສມອໃນສິ່ງທີ່ສາມີຮັກແລະເປັນປະໂຫຍດແກ່ສາມີ. ຜູ້ຊາຍຜູ້ໃດໄດ້ພັນລະຍາເຊັ່ນນີ້ ຜູ້ນັ້ນແມ່ນຜູ້ມີວາສະນາໃນແຜ່ນດິນນີ້»។
भीष्म उवाच
The verse praises the ethical ideal of a spouse’s steadfast commitment within marriage: a wife who treats her husband as her primary refuge and consistently acts for what is dear and beneficial to him is presented as a great blessing, and the husband who receives such companionship is called ‘fortunate’.
In Śānti Parva, Bhishma is instructing on dharma and social ethics. Here he offers a concise commendation of the pativratā ideal, highlighting loyalty and welfare-oriented conduct within the household as exemplary virtues.
