Satya–Anṛta Viveka (Discrimination between Truth and Falsehood) | सत्य–अनृत विवेकः
तादृशो<यमनुप्रश्नो यत्र धर्म: सुदुर्लभ: । दुष्कर: प्रतिसंख्यातुं तत् केनात्र व्यवस्यति
tādṛśo ’yam anupraśno yatra dharmaḥ sudurlabhaḥ | duṣkaraḥ pratisaṅkhyātuṃ tat kena atra vyavasyati, yudhiṣṭhira ||
ພີສະມະ ກ່າວວ່າ: “ຄຳຖາມຕໍ່ເນື່ອງຂອງເຈົ້ານີ້ກໍເປັນຢ່າງນັ້ນເຊັ່ນກັນ; ມັນໄປແຕະຂອບເຂດທີ່ທຳມະຍາກຈະແຍກແຍະເຫັນໄດ້ຢ່າງຍິ່ງ. ຈະກຳນົດໃຫ້ແນ່ນອນກໍຍາກ; ດັ່ງນັ້ນ ຈະອະທິບາຍຢ່າງໝັ້ນໃຈກໍຍາກດ້ວຍ. ໃນເລື່ອງແບບນີ້ ໂອ ຢຸທິສະຖິຣະ, ຜູ້ໃດຈະຕັດສິນໃຈໃຫ້ໝັ້ນຄົງເກືອບກ່ຽວກັບທຳມະໄດ້ໂດຍວິທີໃດ?”
भीष्म उवाच
Bhīṣma emphasizes that dharma can be subtle and elusive; when its nature is hard to discern, even explaining it definitively becomes difficult, so one must be cautious about claiming certainty in moral judgments.
In the Śānti Parva dialogue, Yudhiṣṭhira asks a probing follow-up about dharma; Bhīṣma responds by noting the question’s difficulty because dharma is not always easily identifiable or decisively defined.
