The verse underscores the relentless momentum of war: once unleashed, violence spreads across many fronts and does not easily ‘cool down.’ Ethically, it highlights the tragic cost of conflict and the difficulty of restraining collective fury even among renowned heroes.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, addressing Kṛṣṇa as Janārdana, that the battlefield slaughter continues without abatement across multiple groups of fighters—those associated with Bhūriśravas, Śalya, Śālva, and the warriors of Avanti.
