Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the warrior-code ideal of steadfast courage: the fighters, driven by righteous anger or wounded honor, accept death as a foreseen consequence and still commit to battle—revealing both the valor praised in kṣatriya-dharma and the tragic cost of unchecked wrath.

Sañjaya describes a moment when all the great warriors, enraged and determined, enter into intense hand-to-hand or close combat, fighting one another with death consciously ‘set before’ them.
