Chapter 17
स नो दिष्टयास्त्रसम्पन्नश्नक्षु्िषयमागत: । कर्तार: सम वयं कर्म यच्चिकीर्षाम हृदूगतम्,“अब हमारे सौभाग्यसे अर्जुन स्वयं ही अस्त्र-शस्त्र धारण करके आँखोंके सामने आ गये हैं। इस दशामें हम मन-ही-मन जो कुछ करना चाहते थे, वह प्रतिशोधात्मक कार्य अवश्य करेंगे
sa no diṣṭyāstrasampannaḥ sākṣu-viṣayam āgataḥ | kartāraḥ sma vayaṁ karma yac cikīrṣāma hṛdūgatam ||
«ບັດນີ້ ໂດຍໂຊກດີຂອງພວກເຮົາ, ອະຣຊຸນ—ຜູ້ພ້ອມດ້ວຍອາວຸດຄົບຄັນ—ໄດ້ມາຢູ່ຕໍ່ໜ້າສາຍຕາຂອງພວກເຮົາແລ້ວ. ບັດນີ້ ພວກເຮົາຈະກະທຳການທີ່ໃນໃຈໄດ້ຕັ້ງໃຈໄວ້ແຕ່ດົນ ໃຫ້ສຳເລັດແນ່ນອນ»។
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights how inner intention (hṛdūgatam) becomes decisive action when circumstances present an opening; ethically, it also signals the dangerous ease with which a desire for retaliation can be framed as a ‘necessary deed’ in war.
Sañjaya reports that Arjuna has come into direct view, fully armed; the opposing side takes this as a timely opportunity to execute the action they had been planning internally—implying an imminent, targeted engagement against Arjuna.
