Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the kṣatriya ideal of steadfastness: even when injured, a warrior is expected to maintain courage and not abandon the fight out of fear. It frames endurance and refusal to flee as marks of honor and martial duty.

Sañjaya describes Karṇa facing an enraged Bhīmasena in battle. Though struck and badly wounded by Bhīma’s arrows, Karṇa does not retreat or leave Bhīma; he continues to stand and fight, still capable of troubling his enemies.
