Droṇa Encircled at Night: Coalition Advance and Battlefield Omens (द्रोणपर्यावरणं रात्रियुद्धवर्णनम्)
स मन्यमानस्त्वाचार्यो ममायं फाल्गुनो यथा । भीम: करिष्यते पूजामित्युवाच वृकोदरम्,द्रोणाचार्य यह समझकर कि यह भीम भी अर्जुनके समान मेरी पूजा करेगा, उनसे इस प्रकार बोले--
sa manyamānas tv ācāryo mamāyaṃ phālguno yathā | bhīmaḥ kariṣyate pūjām ity uvāca vṛkodaram ||
ສັນຊະຍະ ກ່າວວ່າ: ອາຈານໄດ້ຄິດວ່າ “ພີມະນີ້ກໍຈະເຄົາລົບບູຊາຂ້າ ເຫມືອນຟາລກຸນະ (ອາຣຊຸນ) ເຮັດ” ແລ້ວກ່າວຄໍາເຫຼົ່ານີ້ກັບ ວຶກໂກດະຣະ.
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical expectation of guru-satkara—honoring one’s teacher. Even in a battlefield context, the narrative recalls the cultural and moral force of reverence and gratitude toward the preceptor.
Sañjaya narrates that Droṇa, assuming Bhīma would honor him as Arjuna does, addresses Bhīma (Vṛkodara). It sets up a moment where Droṇa’s perception of the Pandavas’ attitude toward him becomes relevant to ensuing actions.
