कि नु वक्ष्यन्ति ते क्षात्र॑ सैन्यमध्ये पराजिता: । कथं नु सात्यकिर्युद्धे व्यतिक्रान्तो महायशा:
ki nu vakṣyanti te kṣātra-sainyamadhye parājitāḥ | kathaṁ nu sātyakir yuddhe vyatikrānto mahāyaśāḥ ||
ສັນຊະຍະກ່າວວ່າ: “ແທ້ໆແລ້ວ ນັກຮົບເຫຼົ່ານັ້ນຈະກ່າວຫຍັງເຖິງກຳລັງກະສັດຕະຣິຍະທີ່ພວກເຂົາອວດອ້າງ ຫຼັງຈາກຖືກປະລາຊັຍຢູ່ກາງກອງທັບຂອງຕົນເອງ? ແລະໃນກາງສະໜາມຮົບ ສາຕະຍະກີຜູ້ມີຊື່ສຽງຍິ່ງໃຫຍ່ ໄດ້ຝ່າທະລຸ ຕັດຂ້າມກອງທັບທັງຫມົດ ແລະຄືບໜ້າໄປໄດ້ແນວໃດ?”
संजय उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical pressure of kṣatriya identity: boasting of martial prowess is tested by actual outcomes. Defeat in one’s own ranks invites accountability, while true renown is shown through effective courage and decisive action in battle.
Sañjaya, narrating to Dhṛtarāṣṭra, wonders how the Kaurava fighters will speak of their warrior strength after being beaten amid their own forces, and he asks how the famed Sātyaki managed to break through the opposing army and surge ahead in the fight.
