The verse highlights vow-keeping and loyalty as binding forces in a warrior’s ethics: Sātyaki treats his promise as an obligation that must be completed before he can return to aid Arjuna, showing how dharma in war is often expressed as steadfastness to one’s pledged word and allies.
Sātyaki commands the charioteer to drive him toward the Kāmboja fighters. He declares he will destroy them that very day to complete his vow, and only then proceed to his dear Pāṇḍava—Arjuna—implying urgency to rejoin and support him on the battlefield.
