Educational Q&A

The verse highlights how intense ethical conflict can manifest physically and mentally. Arjuna’s loss of steadiness signals a collapse of resolve caused by attachment and grief, setting the stage for guidance on dharma and right action without being overwhelmed by emotion.

On the battlefield, just before the war begins, Arjuna is overcome by distress at the prospect of fighting his own relatives and revered elders. His bow slips, his body burns, and his mind reels—showing he is no longer able to stand firm in the moment.
