धृतराष्ट्रस्य पश्चात्तापः तथा वनप्रस्थानानुज्ञा | Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Remorse and Request for Forest-Retirement
शीलवद्धिः कुलीनैश्न विद्वद्धिश्न युधिष्ठिर । “आहार-विहारके समय तथा माला पहनने
śīlavaddhiḥ kulīnaiś ca vidvaddhiś ca yudhiṣṭhira | āhāra-vihārake samaye tathā mālā-dhāraṇe śayyāyāṃ śayane āsane ca upaveśane samaye 'pi tvayā sāvadhānena svātmā rakṣaṇīyaḥ | yudhiṣṭhira! kulīna-śīlavān-vidvān-viśvāsapātra-vṛddha-puruṣāṇām adhyakṣatāyāṃ sthāpayitvā antaḥpura-strīṇāṃ rakṣāyāḥ sundaraḥ prabandhaḥ kartavyaḥ ||

वैशम्पायन उवाच
A ruler must practice constant personal vigilance and establish an orderly, trustworthy system of protection for the inner household, entrusting oversight to elders who are noble, virtuous, learned, and reliable—so that governance begins with disciplined self-guarding and responsible domestic administration.
Vaiśaṃpāyana addresses Yudhiṣṭhira with practical counsel on royal conduct: even in routine daily activities he should remain cautious, and he should organize the safeguarding of the palace’s inner quarters by placing it under the supervision of reputable and experienced elders.
