वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights a pragmatic royal value: a land’s prosperity—its resources, wealth, and stability—matters in political decisions such as settlement and alliance. Good governance is tied to recognizing and securing fertile, resource-rich regions.
Vaiśaṃpāyana describes the Cedi region as notably wealthy and resource-filled, addressing the Cedipa (king of Cedi) and urging residence/association with the Cedis on account of the land’s prosperity.
