Duḥṣantasya Vana-praveśaḥ
King Duḥṣanta’s Entry into the Forest Hunt
ब्रह्मणो ब्राह्मणानां च तथानुग्रहकाड्क्षया । विव्यास वेदान् यस्मात् स तस्माद् व्यास इति स्मृत:
brahmaṇo brāhmaṇānāṁ ca tathānugrahakāṅkṣayā | vivyāsa vedān yasmāt sa tasmād vyāsa iti smṛtaḥ ||
ເນື່ອງດ້ວຍປາດຖະໜາຈະອະນຸເຄາະແກ່ພຣະພຣະຫມາ (ພຣະບຣະຫມາ) ແລະພວກພຣາຫມະນະ ທ່ານຈຶ່ງໄດ້ຈັດລຽງ ແລະຂະຫຍາຍ/ແບ່ງວິທີການຂອງເວດທັງຫຼາຍ. ເພາະທ່ານໄດ້ “ວິຍາສະ” ແກ່ເວດ ຈຶ່ງຖືກຈື່ຈຳດ້ວຍນາມ “ວະຍາສະ”.
दाश उवाच
Sacred knowledge must be preserved and made accessible when human capacity declines; Vyāsa’s act of organizing the Vedas is presented as compassionate stewardship in service of dharma and the learned tradition.
The speaker explains the origin of the epithet ‘Vyāsa’: Kṛṣṇa Dvaipāyana is called Vyāsa because he systematized and expanded/divided the Vedas, motivated by a wish to benefit Brahmā (or Brahman) and the Brahmins.
