Vāraṇāvata-prasaṃsā and the Pāṇḍavas’ Departure (वरणावत-प्रशंसा तथा पाण्डव-प्रयाणम्)
अभ्यागच्छ॑ कुरून् भीष्म शिष्यैरर्थी गुणान्वितै: । ततो<हं भवतः काम॑ संवर्धयितुमागत:
abhyāgaccha kurūn bhīṣma śiṣyair arthī guṇānvitaiḥ | tato 'haṃ bhavataḥ kāmaṃ saṃvardhayitum āgataḥ ||
ຂໍໃຫ້ທ່ານມາຫາຊາວກຸຣຸ ໂອ ພີສະມະ ພ້ອມດ້ວຍສິດທິສາວົກຜູ້ຄວນຄ່າ ຜູ້ປາຖະໜາຈະຮຽນຮູ້ ແລະມີຄຸນຄ່າຄວາມດີ. ດັ່ງນັ້ນ ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າຈຶ່ງມາ ເພື່ອສົມທົບ ແລະສົ່ງເສີມໃຫ້ສຳເລັດຕາມຄວາມປາຖະໜາ (ເປົ້າໝາຍ) ຂອງທ່ານ.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Learning and counsel should be sought in the company of qualified, virtuous students; the verse highlights the ethical ideal that instruction and guidance flourish when seekers possess guṇa (good qualities) and sincere purpose.
Vaiśampāyana addresses Bhīṣma, urging him to approach the Kurus with capable disciples who are earnest seekers, and states that he himself has come in order to fulfill and advance Bhīṣma’s intended purpose.
