Lord Vishnu (teaching Garuda/Vinata-putra)
Concept: Viṣṇu’s grace enables awakening; awakened knowledge allows one to cross saṃsāra, difficult even for devas.
Vedantic Theme: Anugraha (grace) as catalyst for prabodha; saṃsāra as beginningless but surmountable through realization supported by the Lord.
Application: Adopt a grace-oriented discipline: prayer, remembrance, and surrender alongside inquiry; measure progress by increased wakefulness and detachment rather than status.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: adbhuta
Related Themes: Garuda Purana: frequent emphasis that remembrance of Vishnu and right knowledge rescue the jīva from fear and post-death suffering.
This verse states that liberation is made possible through Viṣṇu’s prasāda: when grace leads to true spiritual awakening, one can transcend saṃsāra, even though it is difficult for the devas themselves.
It emphasizes inner awakening (prabodha) supported by divine grace; such awakening enables the soul to ‘cross over’ saṃsāra—pointing to mokṣa rather than continued movement through post-death realms.
Cultivate daily remembrance of Viṣṇu, sincere devotion, and self-reflection that leads to awakening—treating grace and spiritual clarity as the key means to rise above habitual cycles of suffering and rebirth.
