Prahlāda’s Prayers Pacify Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva
Prahlāda-stuti and the Lord’s Benediction Offer
सर्वे ह्यमी विधिकरास्तव सत्त्वधाम्नो ब्रह्मादयो वयमिवेश न चोद्विजन्त: । क्षेमाय भूतय उतात्मसुखाय चास्य विक्रीडितं भगवतो रुचिरावतारै: ॥ १३ ॥
sarve hy amī vidhi-karās tava sattva-dhāmno brahmādayo vayam iveśa na codvijantaḥ kṣemāya bhūtaya utātma-sukhāya cāsya vikrīḍitaṁ bhagavato rucirāvatāraiḥ
ຂ້າແຕ່ພຣະເຈົ້າ! ເທວະທັງຫມົດມີພຣະພຣະຫມາເປັນປະມຸກ ເປັນຜູ້ຮັບໃຊ້ຜູ້ປະຕິບັດພຣະບັນຍັດໃນສັດຕະວະທາມຂອງພຣະອົງ ຈຶ່ງບໍ່ຫວາດຫວັ່ນເຫມືອນພວກເຮົາ. ການອະວະຕານໃນຮູບອັນນ່າກົວນີ້ແມ່ນລີລາຂອງພຣະອົງເອງ; ອະວະຕານອັນງາມຂອງພຣະອົງເພື່ອປົກປ້ອງແລະເກື້ອກູນໂລກ
Prahlāda Mahārāja wanted to assert that his father and the other members of his family were all unfortunate because they were demoniac, whereas the devotees of the Lord are always fortunate because they are always ready to follow the orders of the Lord. When the Supreme Lord appears in this material world in His various incarnations, He performs two functions — saving the devotee and vanquishing the demon ( paritrāṇāya sādhūnāṁ vināśāya ca duṣkṛtām ). Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva, for example, appeared for the protection of His devotee. Such pastimes as those of Nṛsiṁhadeva are certainly not meant to create a fearful situation for the devotees, but nonetheless the devotees, being very simple and faithful, were afraid of the fierce incarnation of the Lord. Therefore Prahlāda Mahārāja, in the following prayer, requests the Lord to give up His anger.
It states that the Lord’s incarnations are divine pastimes meant for the welfare and protection of all living beings, and also for the Lord’s own transcendental pleasure.
Prahlāda explains that the Lord is the abode of pure goodness; therefore His fearsome form does not disturb those who understand His divine nature and purpose.
It encourages devotees to remember that divine interventions and life’s upheavals can serve protection and welfare; cultivating bhakti and trust reduces fear and steadies the mind.
