The discourse concerning Lord Nṛsiṁhadeva and Prahlāda Mahārāja began when Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira asked Nārada how Śiśupāla had merged into the body of Kṛṣṇa. Śiśupāla and Dantavakra were the same Hiraṇyākṣa and Hiraṇyakaśipu. Here Nārada Muni is relating how in three different births the associates of Lord Viṣṇu were killed by Lord Viṣṇu Himself. First they were the demons Hiraṇyākṣa and Hiraṇyakaśipu.
This verse states that because Hari was present in their hearts, the Lord killed the two associates-turned-demons through their hostile mood, indicating that intense absorption in the Lord—even as an enemy—can lead to the Lord’s direct intervention and deliverance.
They are Viṣṇu’s two gatekeepers (commonly known as Jaya and Vijaya), who, due to a curse, took birth in demoniac families—here described as becoming Diti’s sons.
Cultivate steady remembrance of God within—through prayer, mantra, and mindful living—so that the heart becomes aligned with divine guidance rather than being driven by hostility and ego.
