This verse identifies Janaka as a king in the Videha line, also known by the title Vaideha, indicating his connection to Videha’s dynasty.
The verse states that Mithila was produced from “churning” (mathana), and that he established the city of Mithilā—linking the place’s origin to a sacred, kingly founding.
Bhagavatam genealogies highlight that leadership and culture are meant to be rooted in dharma—remembering one’s lineage as a responsibility to uphold virtue and devotion.
