भग्नस्कन्धौ निपतितौ भग्नशाखौ महीतले नवोद्गताल्पदन्तांशुसितहासं च बालकम् तयोर् मध्यगतं बद्धं दाम्ना गाढं तथोदरे

ಎರಡೂ ಮರಗಳ ಕಾಂಡಗಳು ಮುರಿದು ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದವು, ಮುರಿದ ಕೊಂಬೆಗಳು ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದಿದ್ದವು. ಅವುಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಮಗು—ಹಾಲಿನಂತೆ ಬಿಳಿಯಾದ ನಗುವಿನಿಂದ ಹೊಳೆಯುತ್ತ, ಹೊಸದಾಗಿ ಮೂಡಿದ ಹಲ್ಲುಗಳು ಕಿರಣಗಳಂತೆ ಮಿನುಗುತ್ತ—ಆದರೆ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಗೆ ಹಗ್ಗವನ್ನು ಬಿಗಿಯಾಗಿ ಕಟ್ಟಲಾಗಿತ್ತು।
