अथवा मूर्द्ध्नि केशे च कर्मयोर्वदने तथा । बाहुद्वये च हृदये नाभ्यामूरुयुगे तथा
athavā mūrddhni keśe ca karmayorvadane tathā | bāhudvaye ca hṛdaye nābhyāmūruyuge tathā
ಅಥವಾ ಅದನ್ನು ಶಿರೋಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲೂ ಕೇಶದಲ್ಲೂ, ಎರಡೂ ಕೈಗಳ ಕರತಲಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಮುಖದಲ್ಲೂ; ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಎರಡೂ ಭುಜಗಳಲ್ಲಿ, ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ನಾಭಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಎರಡೂ ತೊಡೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹಚ್ಚಬೇಕು—ಇದರಿಂದ ಶಿವಪೂಜೆಗೆ ದೇಹ ಪವಿತ್ರವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

It implies a preparatory rite such as applying vibhūti (tripuṇḍra/bhasma) or related consecratory markings while mentally invoking Śiva—often alongside japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra.
