Sthala Purana: Colophon marking the close of the chapter narrating the destruction of Dhūmralocana, Caṇḍa-Muṇḍa, and Raktabīja by Devī’s power.
Significance: Functions as textual ‘phala-śruti’ style closure marker; supports śravaṇa/paṭhana merit by delimiting the sacred narrative unit.
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter, affirming the Purāṇic teaching that Shiva’s supreme lordship (Pati) operates with Śakti (Umā) to remove adharmic forces; it frames the narrative as sacred instruction rather than mere story.
Though it is a closing formula, it situates the episode within the Śiva Mahāpurāṇa where devotees approach Saguna Shiva—Shiva with attributes—together with Umā; such remembrance supports Linga-worship by emphasizing Shiva-Shakti unity behind divine acts of protection and transformation.
A practical takeaway is chapter-recitation (pāṭha) with devotion, concluding with remembrance of Shiva and Umā and japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” dedicating the merit for inner purification and removal of obstacles.
