The Greatness of the Praṇava (Om) as Śiva
pauruṣeṇaiva sūktena hutvā pratyṛcamātmavān | hutvā ca sauviṣṭakṛtīṃ svasūtroktavidhānataḥ

Tattva Level: pasha
Mantra: (Referenced) Puruṣa-sūkta (Ṛgveda 10.90) used for oblations pratyṛc; followed by Sauviṣṭakṛt offering.
Type: rudram
It emphasizes that devotion to Shiva is strengthened by disciplined, scripture-aligned practice—offering with steadiness (ātmavān) and completing rites properly, so worship becomes a purified means toward Shiva’s grace and liberation.
In Shaiva Siddhanta, Saguna Shiva (worshipped as the Linga and through ritual) is approached through correct vidhi; this verse shows how Vedic homa elements can be integrated as supportive limbs of Shiva-upasana, culminating in a complete offering sequence.
It suggests a structured homa: recite the Puruṣa-sūkta and offer oblations verse-by-verse, then perform the concluding Sauviṣṭakṛt oblation, strictly following one’s authorized sūtra/traditional procedure.
