त्र्यशीतितमः सर्गः (Sarga 83)

यस्यार्थास्तस्यमित्राणियस्यार्थास्यस्यबान्धवाः ।यस्यार्थास्सपुमान्लोकेयस्यार्थाः स च पण्डितः ।।6.83.35।।
yasyārthās tasya mitrāṇi yasyārthās tasya bāndhavāḥ |
yasyārthāḥ sa pumān loke yasyārthāḥ sa ca paṇḍitaḥ ||6.83.35||
ಯಾರ ಬಳಿ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಇದೆಯೋ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮಿತ್ರರು; ಯಾರ ಬಳಿ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಇದೆಯೋ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಬಂಧುಗಳು. ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಪತ್ತಿರುವವನೇ ‘ಪುರುಷ’ ಎಂದು ಎಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಸಂಪತ್ತಿರುವವನೇ ‘ಪಂಡಿತ’ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.
"Friends gather round him in whom riches abide. Relations stand by him who has wealth. He is considered manly in whom wealth abides, and he is learned who has wealth."
It exposes a social truth: people often measure worth by wealth. Dharmically, it invites discernment—true virtue and wisdom are not identical with riches.
Rāvaṇa presses a realist argument about how society treats wealth, to challenge Rāma’s renunciatory stance.
Viveka (discernment): recognizing the difference between social labels and genuine merit.
