मकराक्षवधः
The Slaying of Makarākṣa
दिष्ट्यासिदर्शनंराम ममत्वंप्राप्तवानिह ।काङ्क्षितोऽसिक्षुधार्तस्यसिंहस्येवेतरोमृगः ।।।।
diṣṭyāsi darśanaṃ rāma mama tvaṃ prāptavān iha |
kāṅkṣito 'si kṣudhārtasya siṃhasyevetaro mṛgaḥ ||
“ದೈವಯೋಗದಿಂದ, ರಾಮ, ನೀನು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ನನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಗೆ ಬಂದೆ. ಹಸಿದ ಸಿಂಹಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇರೆ ಮೃಗವು ಹೇಗೆ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿತವೋ, ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಬಹುಕಾಲದಿಂದ ವಾಂಛಿತನಾಗಿದ್ದೆ.”
"Rama! To my good fortune it became possible for me to see you here. Just as a hungry lion waits for an animal, I am waiting for you."
